To maintain your certification, you must complete and pass a refresher or recertification course at your current level before your certificate expires.
About the Course
This course covers the key elements of the main training program and provides essential updates on legislation, standards, equipment, methods, and best practices. The course is led by an instructor certified in accordance with NS 9600, and the exam is administered by an examiner from SOFT Certification.
Target Group
Rope Access recertification is intended for anyone who holds a valid certificate at any NS9600 level.
Entry Requirements
General Requirements – All Levels:
Good physical and mental health
Logged hours qualifying for recertification must be within the last 5 years.
Valid medical certificate (not older than 3 years)
Level 1 Recertification
A valid Level 1 certificate that remains valid through the exam date.
Level 2 Recertification (Module 1 & Module 2)
A valid Level 2 certificate that remains valid through the exam date.
Level 3 Recertification
A valid Level 3 certificate that remains valid through the exam date.
Supervisor (Sikringsleder) Recertification
Valid supervisor certificate. Minimum 300 logged rope access hours since the previous course (does not apply before the first recertification). Participation in at least one supervisor seminar during the certification period.
Certificate Validity
Upon passing the theoretical and practical exam, SOFT Certification issues a new certificate valid for 3 years. If a certificate has expired, the candidate may complete a full course at the same or next level (if the requirements are met) within 24 months of the expiry date.
For Level 3 supervisors: within 24 months, a full Level 3 course is required, with no new assistant period; within 60 months, standard Level 3 training, including a new assistant period.

Course Content – What You Learn
Theoretical Training
In the theoretical part of the course, you repeat key knowledge of legislation, standards, equipment, methods, and best practices.
Practical Training
In the practical part of the course, the focus is on rehearsing and mastering the methods relevant to your certification level.
Duration:
- Training and practice: 3 days / 22.5 hours
- Examination: 1 day / 7.5 hours
- Total: 4 days / 30 hours
